Un-Mother's DayJanet Van Dyne buzzed to a perch on a New York City rooftop. She sighed. It was Mother’s Day, and this one was worse than usual.Un-Mother's Day by macromega
Jan’s own mother had died after an extended coma years before. For the longest time she had chosen not to have children. But then the world was destroyed, and she and Havok had been married, and the world was undestroyed, only to have her world destroyed in the process.
Jan wanted so much to call someone with whom she could try to have a mother-and-child bond. But she had no older women to be a mother figure to her, and, now, no children of her own.
There was Tigra’s son, William, who was genetically Tigra's child with Hank Pym. But William was really Tigra’s son with the disguised Skrull who had set off the growth bomb implanted in her and tried to kill her, leaving her missing and presumed dead for a long time. The situation was just too weird, with Hank gone now thanks to Ultron.

“Diana,” a voice came from behind. She half hoped it would be him although she knew who it exactly was.
“Long shadow,” she smiled trying to hide her disappointment, “how are you doing today?”
“Very well,” he shrugged and smiled. “I think the sleep helped.” He then considered her eyes, “I think you did not get enough sleep last night.”
She blushed a little at the mention of last night.
“I did have trouble sleeping,” she said, “but I got my three hours.”

“Good evening, Wayne Manor.”
“Alfred it’s me.” Came the voice of Diana.
“Ms. Diana, what can I do for you?”
“I have been trying to reach Bruce, Alfred,” she sounded a little concerned, “and I haven’t been able to. His communicator is non-functional; his cell phone is switched off. Can you get him for me?”
“Master Bruce?” Alfred sounded perplexed. “But madam I thought he was with you. He was nowhere to be seen since morning.”
“What?” Diana was startled, “He is not here, Alfred. Are you sure he was headed for the watch tower.”
“To say the truth, I don’t know, madam. I didn’t ask him.”
“I’ll try to get him, Alfred. I hope I can still get a location on his tracking device.”
“Yes, madam,” Alfred said curtly, “please let me know once you find out.”

Peter Jason Quill, better known as the Legendary Star-Lord, if mostly to himself, laced and looped his velvet bow-tie in the glassy reflection of the window with one hand, as he tapped a few key buttons to check the autopilot was functioning properly, careful not to wake the AI, with the other. His small but speedy little M-ship, Bad Boy — he didn't name it, but he might as well have called it that anyway — was to rendezvous with the homeship of the Guardians of the Galaxy, but it would be several hours until then.

The word sounded strange and foreign upon his tongue: Girrrrllllfffrieendd!
He's never had one. A serious one, specifically. Sure, he's had the meaningless one-night stands in every port and dive, hundreds of times, from here to Knowhere, for years and years; but nothing l
